Packaging for Peninsula food businesses
San Mateo County's Disposable Food Service Ware Ordinance applies in unincorporated areas and in the cities that adopted it. It rules out plastic foodware, including foam and compostable PLA plastic, and calls for fiber-based foodware that is certified compostable and PFAS-free. Accessories go out only on request, and Half Moon Bay, Pacifica, and Daly City also require reusables for dine-in.
Kitchens here range from airport-adjacent caterers in South San Francisco to downtown cafes in Burlingame and San Mateo and coastside spots in Half Moon Bay. Our Peninsula routes cover all of it, with fiber and certified compostable takeout lines stocked for the county rules.
