Packaging for San Francisco kitchens
San Francisco's Food Service Waste Reduction Ordinance bans polystyrene foam foodware and requires takeout foodware to be compostable or recyclable. The city's single-use foodware ordinance adds two more rules: straws, utensils, napkins, lids, and condiments go out only on request or from a self-serve station, and compostable foodware must be BPI or TUV certified and free of fluorinated chemicals.
That makes certified fiber clamshells and bowls, paper cups, and fiber or wood utensils the safe default for anything that leaves your counter. Dense neighborhoods also mean small stockrooms, so your rep helps you order case sizes you can actually store, on a route day that fits your prep schedule.
